How Susan Boyle Inspired The World
It took less than a week and a seven minute audition for an obscure woman from Scotland to have more than 30 million YouTube views, five interviews from major news agencies and almost a million fans on Facebook. Not to mention the hundreds of requests for her to make an album now!
Susan Boyle, who delivered an amazing rendition of the Les Miserables classic “I Dream A Dream” shocked a cynical audience who have judged her ability to sing by the way she speaks and looks! It was this fantastic performance of her in the singing contest that broke stereotypes, perceptions and inspired millions.
The rage about Boyle is as much a talent breakthrough, as it is a powerful reminder on life’s values. She epitomizes the need for us to apply lessons we all should have learned early on and must have mastered by now. And evidently, all of us forget to exercise those values all the time.
It was those values and principles in living life that Susan Boyle’s performance brought out from us. Values that when realize will make the greatest impact, especially in this time where everything has been shaken and only mighty absolutes will remain standing.
SHE REMINDED US IT’S NEVER ABOUT THE APPEARANCE
Confirming the saying “Do not judge a book by it’s cover”, she walked in the stage looking her best-in her own terms. After, she declared that she would want to become a professional singer which received boos and laughs from a cynical audience and expressions of unbelief from unimpressed judges. But as soon as she belted out the lyrics of her chosen song, she showcased that her talent, what’s inside of her, is far greater than her painfully judged outward appearance.
SHE TAUGHT US IT’S NEVER TOO LATE
Needing to take care of her parents delayed her quest to seek opportunities as a professional singer but she thought of giving it one more try. So after decades of dreaming, she auditioned to one of Britain’s most famous singing contests. For a woman from a “collection of villages” she braved the city to see if her life-long aspiration of being a professional singer can still be fulfilled. She risked it and, as we can all see, on the onset- have succeeded.
SHE EXEMPLIFIED IT’S IMPORTANT TO TAKE ACTION
Dreaming can only go far. To realize a dream we have to take action. That’s what Susan Boyle did. She did it with optimism, authenticty and gut and took over the world who initially looked down on her. By stepping into the spotlight, going all the way to the city to meet people and sing a tune she felt was right for the times, she captured the hearts of the people and caused all of us to be in awe of her talent.
SHE SHOWED US THAT A DREAM CAN BE REALIZED…NOW!
Despite delays, trials of life, the fact of having “never been kissed” and bullies from her past, Boyle showed that a dream in one’s heart when acted upon can still come to past. And it can happen NOW! If we take the chance, if we believe and if we honestly put ourself in an environment where our dreams can be fulfilled, then it’s possible for things…all things to happen.
Commentators say that the breakaway star, at this time of struggle and uncertainty, became an inspiration. She became a beacon of hope to the struggling and a role model to the lonely and depressed in a world that has crumbled. But more than that, Susan Boyle reminded us of our values, the most important principles that will keep us intact and the ones that will allow us to see the world in a much better light.
