The Priory Clinic: Susan Boyle Being Admitted
Drudge Report is reporting that the Sun is reporting that Susan Boyle is being admitted to The Priory Clinic Nottingham.
The Priory Clinic website states the following:
The Priory Clinic Nottingham is a 16-bed facility offering an abstinence-based therapeutic programme for a wide range of substance and behavioural dependencies including alcohol, drugs, gambling, poly-addictions and dual diagnosis. Our residential and daycare services help individuals and their partners and families to recover from the physical and emotional effects of alcohol and drug addiction.
We offer a structured residential inpatient treatment programme.
Because each patient’s programme is tailored to suit his or her individual needs, the length of treatment varies from seven to 42 days. If detoxification is necessary, a seven to 14 day intervention consisting of a drug and alcohol withdrawal regime is recommended; then, a structured and flexible therapeutic intervention is begun to address the patient’s immediate needs, help them achieve abstinence and improve their overall quality of life.
Treatment components:
- Consultant or medical assessment
- Detoxification programme (if necessary)
- Group therapy
- One-to-one therapy
- Educational lectures
- Holistic activities
- Family participation programme
- Weekly aftercare for twelve months
- Signposting to other support agencies
Therapeutic interventions:
- First three steps of 12-step programme
- Person-centred therapy
- Group therapy

All patients are expected to attend three AA, NA or other Fellowship meetings per week.

About Susan Boyle: (born 1 April 1961) is a Scottish singer who came to public attention when she appeared as a contestant on the third series of Britain’s Got Talent, and ended up the runner up of the 2009 edition of the show.[5] Boyle became known when she sang “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables in the competition’s first round,[6] first broadcast in the United Kingdom on 11 April 2009.[7] In the final of Britain’s Got Talent, Boyle finished in second place, behind dance troupe Diversity.
Boyle attended Edinburgh Acting School and also took part in the Edinburgh Fringe. Prior to her appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, her main experience had come from singing in church and karaoke in the local pubs in her village. She had also tried out several times for My Kind of People.[8]
When she appeared on the Britain’s Got Talent stage, the audience and the judges appeared apprehensive and judgmental of her unpolished appearance. Upon finishing her song, she received a standing ovation from the live audience and unanimous praise from the judges.[9] She has been dubbed “The Woman Who Shut Up Simon Cowell”.[3]
The contrast between the audience’s first impression of her when she appeared on stage compared to the ovation she received afterwards triggered global interest. Articles about her appeared in newspapers worldwide, while the numbers who watched videos of her audition have set an online record.[10] Within nine days of her televised debut, videos of her audition, subsequent interviews of her, and her 1999 rendition of “Cry Me a River” had been viewed a combined total of over 100 million times on the Internet.[11] Cowell is reported to be setting up a contract with Boyle with his Syco Music company label, a subsidiary of Sony Music.[12]
