Why Are You People Watching Tori Spelling’s Show?

Tori Spelling is a phenomenon I just don’t understand. She bores me to tears. I find absolutely nothing compelling about her other than the unsolved mystery of how someone with so much money could get such a terrible boob job. I never write a story about her unless I absolutely have to. But most Tori stories go ignored around here unless Wendie picks ‘em up.

So I’m shocked to hear that Tuesday night’s season-four (four???) premiere of Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood drew 424,000 women 18-49, making it Oxygen’s most-watched opener among the demo in its nine-year history. In total, there were 763,000 people watching the show about Tori’s marriage and children, even if she did kill her father.

I ask this honestly: Why are people watching this show? Why is anyone remotely interested in the life of this woman and the husband she stole from another woman? WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE? Identify and explain yourselves.

Watching repeats of Tori's show is far more interesting than reading anything you've got to write about…can I have my 2 minutes back please???

Watching a rich woman (my age), hyperventilate when the smallest, most ridiculous things go wrong, and pout and cry when she feels unloved every other second, reassures me that even though she has all the prosperity and security (I worked hard for but still don't have), she's still pretty messed up. I don't blame her, her mother is a very odd, difficult person and I can't imagine the twisted psychology of living in that household as a kid. It is the husband, Dean, who makes it very difficult to sit through that show. He has somehow gotten the idea that he is incredibly witty and charming, and so carries on with his constant, misguided nattering, even pausing for your laugh track before he continues. What he is really saying between the dud lines is something like, “Hey, guys! I want you to forget what a loser I am, leaving my wife, son, and newly adopted daughter so I could get some Spelling cash and veg out on a sofa for the rest of my life.” I keep clicker in hand for these moments.

I wish I could. I watch the show, but am often puzzled why. Kind of like leering at a car accident.

I love Tori and her family. I'll keep watching as long as they are on.

Robin: you must be watching a lot of the show to know so much about it even though you say you are holding a clicker. I think you don't use that clicker much.

I love Tori Spelling and I enjoy her show. If you don't like it then fine but why the hell are you complaining about it on here? Don't you have anything better to do? I like Tori and Dean as a couple and for the record she did not “steal” someone else's husband. It might seem like that but hello am I the only one who realizes Tori and Dean fell in love? Both were in unhappy marriages at the time they met and they found eachother and now they have beautiful children. So what is your problem? You bore me to tears with this article.
