Billy Elliot the Musical won 10 Tony Awards

“Billy Elliot the Musical” has won 10 awards at the Tony Awards presented by the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. The three teenage stars David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish shared the award for ‘Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical’.  Stephen Daldry won for Best Direction of a Musical. The categories in which Billy Elliot, The Musical won are : Best Musical Best Book of a Musical Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical Best Scenic Design of a Musical Best Lighting Design of a Musical Best Sound Design of a Musical Best Direction of a Musical Best Orchestrations Stephen Daldry The music for Billy Elliot is by Sir Elton John, and book and lyrics are by Lee Hall, who wrote the film’s screenplay. Elton John said “We came here at a hard time economically, you opened your wallets and your hearts to us and we love you for it,”.
