Kate, with Jon's passive help, purposely reproduced TOO MANY CHILDREN at a time when her husband didn't even have a JOB. Kate had a plan that would set her up financially for the rest of her life, whether she had a husband or not, whether he was employed or not.
People with Borderline Personality Disorder are notorious for their ability to make long range plans and have the tenacity to carry them out, no matter how long, or how many “weeks on bedrest,” it may require.

The “alternative,” Grandma, would have been for Jon and Kate to have made an educated decision NOT to have children that they COULD NOT AFFORD in the first place.

Whatever this show claims it started out to be, it has completely jumped the track as it turned into a voyeurs playground. If it was supposed to be about any couple, who out of all fault of their own end up parents of 8, each who thinks more highly of themselves than each other or their kids, then TLC knocked one out of the ball park. If it was supposed to show the day to day effort a young couple needs to raise 8 little bundles of joy, then TLC needs to dump J&K and bring in a couple who actually do work together, while also holding down real jobs, all while caring for their kids and each other. It's a huge assignment, one that J&K obviously weren't up to taking.

Since moving on Jon has managed to be photographed with at least 3 young women, the first 2 before they filed for divorce. Dressing more like a pre-teen than a 32 yr old father of 8. Maybe he was jealous of the cute clothes his kids were given to wear on the show. Apparently Jon is in serious talks about taking a job with a well known clothing designer who's market group was previously the 12 to 22 yr olds who's parents were shelling out big bucks for their kids to wear clothing with someone else's name all over it. Possibly the designer thinks Jon is today's image of any man/father who is willing to shell out big bucks to keep looking like a kid, while raising kids of his own. If this is what they think, I hope they are mistaken. Personally I never wanted to be mistaken for my kids older sibling, in how I behave or what I wear.

Kate's projects have been put on hold, with the exception of being a featured speaker in October, for a project Maria Shiver is working on. She was signed on before her troubled marriage came to light, at the urging of Shriver's daughters who are huge fans of the show. So far she is still scheduled, we'll see what happens as the date gets closer. Kate has always had some strange fixation with making memories for her kids. Apparently she doesn't realize when she threatens to throw away her son's favorite snugly. because it got a little chewing gum on it, she is making memories, just not the kind she constantly brings up on the show. Or making her daughter sell a Christmas ornament at a garage sale, that her grandpa gave her before he passed away, she is making another memory. Kate seems to think memories are scheduled events, put together very carefully by her where the children are brought in at the last minute and it's handed to them tied up in a bow. I feel sorry for her, when in the future she puts on a slide show for her grown kids and they have little to no memory of the events she tried to make for them, but they can remember the day she refused to leave the store without completing her purchase while her son cried and cried because he had such a bad belly ache. Or the day they went to a bake shop and decorated their own Birthday cupcakes. To begin with Kate was in high gear over the kids getting messy, she sat to the side, almost the whole time whining about stains and getting 'dirty'. After decorating, they weren't allowed to eat at the bakery like the twins did. They were told they could have them after dinner, for dessert. Then (the boys) weren't allowed to eat their cupcakes, because they didn't eat the dinner “Kate” had prepared (rules are rules, Birthdays or not). But they had to sit still at the table while their sisters ate. That was another memory made extra special by Mommy- Meanest.

It's really too bad J&K weren't in therapy all along. It is a known fact that parents of multiples have a higher divorce rate than the norm. Another (not proven) reality seems to be people who put their lives on display in reality shows seem to have a higher divorce rate yet. Combine these with Jon's immaturity and Kate's OCD. These kids never stood a chance to grow up with 2 parents, living in the same house. I wish TLC would have pulled them off the air 2 years ago, at that time the little snipes at each other were growing bigger by the episode and the producer seemed to enjoy nothing more than pointing things out they said to or about each other, when out of ear shot, just to watch the reaction. This is when I stopped watching, I had already been thru my own and had watched too many friends crash and burn. I didn't need to watch the reality of 8 more kids becoming statistics. When mommy and daddy decided it just wasn't working for them anymore, oops too bad kiddies. We know we promised to love, honor and cherish each other. But we've decided we'd rather find someone new to love. But don't worry, we'll always love you! Just look around, see all the things people send to you? That's all because we love you so much…..
