The specter haunting Mexico’s congressional elections

By • on June 30, 2009

From Michael Collins:

The stakes are huge in Mexico’s July 5 congressional elections. Mexico faces a major financial
crisis, a war with narco traffickers, and a crisis of migration out of and into the country. The 2006 election was a fraud. The election for Congress reflects that. A “boycott” option is on the table,
with one poll showing 11% support!

Lopez-Obrador, who had the election stolen from him in 2006, is speaking out loudly about deliberate media bias. Surprisingly, current President Calderon and former elections head
Ugalde, the man who “helped” Calderon “win,” are both talking like Obrador.

This is the first of a three-part series on the election, with translations of remarkable public
statements by the leaders of the nation.

Thanks Mark and Elites TV for publishing this most important information about the Mexican election. Mexico really kicked off the independent worldwide democracy movement in 2006. Iran is the sequel, much more violent and brutal. Now Mexico and Iran are in tandem to show the world what the people can do, from the bottom up, by demanding a fair and honest expression of their will. As Kenneth Thomas, the co-author of this article said, it's time to think of the peoples democracy as a global movement just like others for social democracy and government based on values rather than greed.
