Coal industry tries to block premiere of documentary

Hey Mark–

Thought you might be interested in this. A friend of mine was involved in making a documentary about mountaintop coal mining called COAL COUNTRY that had its world premiere last night in Charleston, WV. Coal interests threatened protests, and as a result, the original venue for the premiere backed out on Weds. Info here:

Three hotels also reportedly pulled reservations for people who were coming to town for the premiere. Apparently the state’s Secretary of Arts and Education intervened to help sort things out and locate a new venue. The premiere did happen and went well, lots of catcalls but no violence:
