Programs Provide Food, Clean Water to Afghans

ZABUL PROVINCE, Afghanistan, Sept. 14, 2009 – The international community has introduced programs to combat malnourishment and bacteria and parasites in the water here in an effort to improve the quality of life for local residents, particularly children.
 A hospital worker mixes ground almonds with sugar and powdered milk as he prepares a food supplement for starving children to be distributed throughout Afghanistan’s Zabul province as part of the Strong Food program.
