Naomi Watts to play Marilyn Monroe

Naomi Watts A biopic on Norma Jeane Mortenson, better known as Marilyn Monroe across the globe, has been announced and actress Naomi Watts. As reported by the tabloid Screen Daily online, Watts will play the lead in the movie which is an adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ imaginary Marilyn Monroe memoir. The movie is said to be hitting the floors early in 2011 and is directed by Andrew Dominik. The director was all praise for his choice of his leading lady. He was quoted saying, “is Marilyn Monroe the great female icon of the 20th Century? For men she is an object of sexual desire that is desperately in need of rescue. For women, she embodies all the injustices visited upon the feminine, a sister, a Cinderella, consigned to live among the ashes.” He also added, “I want to tell the story of Norma Jeane as a central figure in a fairytale, an orphan child lost in the woods of Hollywood, being consumed by that great icon of the 20th century.” Dominik has earlier directed ‘Assassination of Jesse James’. The movie is titled as Blonde and will tell the story of Monroe who died after a drug overdose. She is still  famous for her appeal in her era.
