Family Matters Blog: Program Offers Free Museum Visits

American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, May 31, 2011 – Service members and their families can visit a vast array of museums across the nation free of charge through Labor Day, thanks to the second-annual Blue Star Museums program. More than 1,300 museums in all 50 states have signed up to participate so far.

“Blue Star Museums recognizes and thanks our military families for all they are doing for our country,” said Rocco Landesman, chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities, “and simultaneously begins young people on a path to become lifelong museum-goers.” For all the details, see the article my colleague, Terri Moon Cronk, wrote about this program or visit the Blue Star Museums site. Visit this site for a list of participating museums. For more family-related posts, visit Family Matters blog or check out Family Matters on Facebook and Twitter.
