Fantasy Baseball: Are You Feeling Felix Doubront?
. After striking out six while holding the Tigers to two runs on four hits over six innings, Red Sox lefty Felix Doubront improved to 5-2 with a 3.86 ERA. Doubront has allowed two or fewer runs over his past four starts. . Doubront’s WHIP is less than ideal at 1.36, and part of that is attributed to his 24 walks. He does have a decent .242 BAA. He is proving to be a power pitcher with 59 strikeouts in 56.0 innings (9.5 K/9), and having racked up six or more Ks in seven of his ten starts. . Doubront has been more successful on the road (3-1, 3.41 ERA vs. 4.33 ERA), but he has been more effective at home (1.30 WHIP vs. 1.41). His control has been better at home (3.9 BB/9) than away (4.7 BB/9). . Consistency has been a strong suit for Felix. Other than one disastrous start against Oakland when he allowed five runs over four innings and another outing where he allowed four runs over five innings to the Rays, he has kept the Sox in the game allowing three or fewer runs. In six of his ten starts he has allowed two or fewer runs. . In his first two years in the bigs, Felix had posted a 4.84 ERA over 35-1/3 innings. This time around he’s been better. He has posted a 3.86 ERA at the Triple-A level and 3.96 overall for his minor league career. . Doubront is owned in less than a quarter of all fantasy leagues. Next up is Toronto so if you decide to add Doubront to your fantasy staff, you may want to let him ride the pine in that one. . . Also check out: Is Daniel Nava for Real?
